- Ustaz Abu Jabir PenAbdul explains the issue of intention

As the fasting month of Ramadan approaches, Legit.ng Hausa interviewed Abu Jabir PenAbdul on what Muslims need to know.

Abu Jabir PenAbdul spoke about the intention of fasting, quoting the Islamic scholar, Imam Ibn Taymiyyah.

He said: The environment of intention is in the heart, not utterance. The person is determined in his heart that he will fast 29 or 30 (depending on the sighting of the moon).

He said that one should decide to fast during the month of Ramadan.

Abu Jabir, better known as PenAbdul, gave the example of one who left home, performed ablution, went to the mosque, and said that this does not require declaring the intention of prayer.

For the one who does not get the intention until after dawn, he will take his intention late, and continue fasting, after the month of Ramadan has made up for the fast of that day.

Abu Jabir PenAbdul said that the intention to fast Ramadan is before dawn, as opposed to the supererogatory fasts that Prophet Mohammad (SAS) used to prepare at noon.

The sheikh explained that all those who disobeyed the Sultan were against the sunnah because Islam is based on unity.

Abu Jabir PenAbdul said that the right thing to do is to fast and drink with the rest of the community as taught by Prophet Mohammad (SAW).

Abu Jabir PenAbdul said Nigeria was looking at its new moon, adding that the country had nothing to do with Saudi Arabia.

It was on Sunday that you heard that the Sultan had ordered the Muslim community in the country to seek the holy month of Ramadan on Monday, April 12, 2021.

The order was given by Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar III to the chairman of the advisory committee on Islamic affairs at his palace in Sokoto.
